Partnerships

IMTAL works closely with many like-minded professional organizations to spread the word about museum theatre. Many of these organizations are listed on the Helpful Links page. With a few of these organizations, IMTAL maintains formal partnerships. Details about these partnerships are explained below.

The American Association of Museums (AAM)

IMTAL is an affiliate of AAM and the IMTAL President sits on the AAM Council of Affiliates. As such, IMTAL hosts a variety of events at the AAM Annual Meeting each year, including but not limited to: the Museum Theatre Showcase at the Museum Expo, the IMTAL Lucheon, the Public Speaking Workshops, museum theatre-related sessions, and one of two annual IMTAL Board Meetings.

The American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE)

IMTAL is an affiliate member of AATE. The two organizations share relevant information with each other's members and host events at each other's conferences. When appropriate, membership in both organizations is encouraged. IMTAL members wishing to join AATE will receive 20% off their dues during 2008 (please email the IMTAL secretary for the necessary code).

IMTAL also manages the AATE Museum Theatre Network. AATE's "networks" are subgroups of AATE members focused on specific interests within the field of theatre and education. Networks may propose and implement projects within AATE. IMTAL members Jillian Finkle (National Children's Museum) and Pam Duncan (Imagine It! Children's Museum of Atlanta) are the current Network Co-chairs, but one chair position is appointed each year. If you are interested in serving as a co-chair and acting as a liaison between IMTAL and AATE, email Jillian or see the Board Position Descriptions page.

If your organization is interested in formal partnership with IMTAL, please contact the IMTAL President.
