Cancellation Policy:

Refunds may be requested through July 10, 2010 but will incur a $25 cancellation fee. Refunds will be granted via check and mailed after the conference. No refunds will be granted after July 10, 2010.

 

Conference Location:

The conference is being hosted by the Missouri History Museum whose mission is to deepen the understanding of past choices, present circumstances, and future possibilities; strengthen the bonds of the community; and facilitate solutions to common problems.  Founded in 1866, the Missouri History Museum is a private non-profit institution.  Our continuing exhibitions include Seeking St. Louis, which focuses on St. Louis History from 1764-2000; Lindbergh, which houses the many awards and that the pilot received and gave directly to the museum at the time of his Transatlantic flight, and  The 1904 World's Fair: Looking Back, Looking Forward. 

 

 

During the conference, we will have a very special exhibition in, Vatican Splendors: A Journey Through Faith and Art.  Your conference registration will include a ticket to the exhibition, all of our other exhibitions are free.  Our museum theatre programs include Theatre in the Museum, one person plays in the museum's galleries or Grand Hall; Teens Make History, a work based learning program for teens who research, write and perform plays in the museum; and the Performing Arts Series, a presented series of local theatre companies.   

 

The Missouri History museum is located St. Louis's sprawling and beautiful Forest Park (for more information visit http://www.forestparkforever.org/  http://stlouis.missouri.org/citygov/parks/forestpark/ ) At 1,293 acres, Forest Park is 500 acres larger than New York's Central Park and is home to the St. Louis Art Museum, St. Louis Science Center and the St. Louis Zoo.  Runners will find a 5.75 mile running path around the edge of the park, and there are many lovely walks and bike trails as well.  Bikes can be rented from the Forest Park Visitor's Center, adjacent to the history museum. 

 

Other attractions in the city include the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (Gateway Arch), The Missouri Botanical Garden, The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, and the unrivaled City Museum as well as numerous smaller museums, historic houses and noteworthy parks. 

 

Accommodations:

The Moonrise Hotel (www.moonrisehotel.com) is a unique hotel only a little more than a mile from the Missouri History Museum.  It is 5 minutes by car to the History Museum and conveniently close to the Delmar/Loop metrolink station.   

 

IMTAL has a special rate of $129 a night.  To get the conference rate, please call 1.877.872.1122 to make individual reservations. The group block is listed for the Missouri History Museum so the code to get the reservation rate of $129 is "Missouri History Museum." The conference rate is available for the evenings of the 20th and 21st of August only.

 

The conference's dinner will be held on Saturday the 21st in the Moonrise's award-winning restaurant, Eclipse.

Travel:

St. Louis is served by the Lambert International Airport.  The airport is located on the St. Louis's light rail (Metrolink) line, which will take you to both the Moonrise Hotel (Delmar/Loop station) and the Missouri History Museum (Forest Park/DeBaliviere Station.) 

 

By car, St. Louis is approximately 5 hours from Chicago and 4 hours from Indianapolis and Kansas City.  The city is located at the intersections of Interstates 70, 64, 44 and 55 and is reasonably easy to navigate by car, whether you drive to the city or rent a car.  There is an Amtrak station downtown, but be advised that trains coming from east of the Mississippi River have lengthy lay-overs in Chicago before departing for St. Louis. 

 

Getting Around:

Conference attendees from out of town are encouraged to utilize the light rail (Metrolink) system. The conference hotel is located near the Delmar/Loop station and the conference site (the Missouri History Museum) is located at the Forest Park/DeBaliviere Station.  

 

Driving Directions from Lambert St. Louis Airport to the History Museum:  Follow Signs I-170.  Take I-170 South toward Clayton.  Exit at Forest Park Parkway.  Turn right at DeBaliviere Ave.  The museum will be directly in front of you.  Drive into the park.  if the lots directly next to the museum are full, pass the museum and turn left at the Dwight Davis Tennis courts.  There will be a large parking lot on the right. 

 

Driving Directions from Lambert St. Louis Airport to the Moonrise Hotel:  Follow signs for I-170.  Take I-170 South toward Clayton.  Exit at the Delmar Blvd exit.  Turn left onto Delmar Blvd.  Drive approximately 3 miles on Delmar, through the University City Loop.  The Moonrise Hotel is located near the intersection of Delmar and Skinker Boulevards.  Follow the Hotel's directions to parking.

Weather:

Summer weather in St. Louis is notoriously hot and humid.  The average temperatures for the later part of August are in the upper 80's for highs and the upper 60's for lows.  Record high temperatures are in the 100's and the low to mid 90's are to be expected.  The Museum is well air-conditioned, so you may want to pack a light sweater for the meeting rooms and theatre.
